Mission Navigation

Xianyang is a mission found in Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom.

Briefing Edit

As was foreseen by the sages, the might of the forces of Qin was irresistible. Following the fall of the ignoble kingdom of Han, the states of Zhao, Wei and the once-powerful Shu also succumbed. Now for the first time, from north of the great Yellow river to south of the wide Yangzi, all civilized people bow low to the Tiger of Qin, King Zheng, son of Zhuang Xiang of Qin. Our triumphant leader, to properly set himself above other mere kings and princes, has taken the befitting title of Shi Huangdi, or First Emperor.

A glittering new capital is needed and a Grand Palace for our noble emperor. An impressive new road, the Imperial Way, will be an excellent choice for the royal ward an upper class neighborhoods. Our exalted emperor no doubt has many great projects in mind for his capital that he has not yet told us of, so do not squander the land and its resources!

Goals Edit

  • Large Palace must be built
  • 200 people in Impressive Compound or better

Summary Edit

This mission is very long and you'll be returning here at the end of the dynasty to build an even larger city. As a result, you should prepare this city to meet most of the goals for the second journey here, as well as being ready to grow for the other monument you must build.

Luckily, this mission is mostly peaceful. Even on Very Hard, nobody will invade you (except the Nomad Camps if you play too long). Within a few months of starting the mission, nearly everyone will ally with you, meaning there is no reason to send diplomatic requests. Shu will declare itself a vassal, but immediately rebels: as this city sells you Lacquer and is needed to reach the Impressive Compound goal, quelling this rebellion is important. This rebellion can be calmed peacefully by sending large gifts of Ceramics until they stop rebelling: if you are feeling martial, build a large military and use force, although this is more likely to anger the citizens of Shu.

There is lots of room to build the city as needed. Silk can be grown in abundance and lots of the good can be sold to Linzi. More silk trading opportunities become available when you return here, so ensure the supply is built up so you can make lots of money.

To reach the Impressive Compound goal will require at least ten Elite Housing plots. A single block of elite housing will never cover the required area, so building two blocks -- one with six plots, the other with four -- is recommended.

You shouldn't have trouble in building the Large Palace monument. It requires a lot of Wood, a few slabs of Clay and one block of stone to be completed. Since Huanxian is your only seller of this commodity, it is vitally important to meet the demands of this city and equally important to fulfil the troop requests to keep the city open.
