The Senet House is a building type in Pharaoh.

General Information[]

In the vanilla version of Pharaoh, senet houses provide the final, highest boost of entertainment required to level housing up to the highest levels. Senet players walking past housing provide 40 entertainment points. Though they can be used to upgrade lower level housing, their large size, expense, the fact that they need supplies of beer to run, and their negative desirability all make them more cumbersome to use than the likes of Pavilions or Bandstands.

Unlike Conservatories and Dance Schools, which can be built far away from population centers and thus have their problem of low desirability avoided, senet houses benefit housing most when they're placed close to them. This is problematic because senet houses afford upgrading to the very best housing, where very high desirability is required.

Historical Information[]

Historically, there has been evidence of senet being played as early as 3,500 B.C. The game board consists of thirty squares, arranged in three rows of ten. The original rules of the game have been lost, although modern interpretations exist.

Senet boards were popular items to be buried with the dead. They were just one of many games that Ancient Egyptians played to entertain themselves.
