The Mortuary is a building type in Pharaoh.

General Information[]

Mortuaries require linen to function. They are required to upgrade high-level (manor and above) housing. The fact that they improve housing at a stage required only for manors and estates means that they are not necessary for worker housing; however, it is still often beneficial to provide mortuaries to worker housing as functioning mortuaries improve overall city health, reducing the risk of plague. However, mortuaries are somewhat undesirable buildings and also require linen to function.

Each mortuary can hold up to 200 linen (delivered there in shipments of 100). Each time an embalmer from a mortuary spawns, he takes a certain amount of linen with him depending on the difficulty--60 for very hard, 40 for hard, 20 for normal, 10 for easy, and 5 for very easy. Mortuaries spawn roughly one walker per month. The amount of linen used by mortuaries are decreased by building the Oracle to Anubis at Seth's Temple Complex

Having sufficient mortuaries are required for raising Culture Rating. Unlike most other coverage types, perfect mortuary coverage is not required for even 100 culture rating. Like other health services, coverage is not measured per building but instead measured by the proportion of the population that health service workers pass by. In well-designed cities, just one mortuary can potentially support thousands of people.
