The Granary is a building type in Pharaoh.

General InformationEdit

Granaries store food collected from various sources. Bazaar buyers head to granaries to retrieve food, and then traders distribute it to neighborhoods. Bazaar buyers use granaries to obtain food that has been obtained locally. Imported food that has been obtained from trading can never be stored inside a granary and is always sent to a storage yard, if possible, for a Bazaar buyer to collect.

Granaries can store 3,200 units of food, as displayed by the tops of the round holes in the back of the buildings. Like Storage Yards, they can be set to accept/not accept and get/empty different types of food, allowing for neighborhoods to receive certain types of foods. They can hold up to four different types of food.

Granaries are unfortunately subject to a glitch: if both of their cart pushers are out collecting or sending away food, then citizens (walkers that recruit workers from houses) are not dispatched. A granary with cart pushers that are busy for too long eventually loses its access to workers.

As granaries require bazaars to function, they are ideally placed somewhat close to bazaars. In fact, bazaars that are placed over 40 tiles from a granary simply do not collect food from there.

While locally produced food can be stored in storage yards, Bazaar buyers never take locally obtained food from a storage yard. Granaries for such purposes.

Granaries are undesirable buildings. They are prone to collapse.
